the name of the game

Thingfs have been busy, but I don't have heaps to say.

Training is the name of the game, and it is keeping me busy. Specifically volume. Annaliisa is very happy that I have adapted to working and training, and so is starting to increase the volume of my training. We are doing the Tai tapu tt and the Leeston 16km every week and usually the race on sat and then a long/hill ride on sunday.

The race yesterday was only a bit more than 30km, but was one hell of a ride. This is because it was a hill climb.

The climbing part of the race was straight up Gebby's then a left turn to continue up the road that eventually lead to the sign of the kiwi.

'Sweet' you say? Whatever. Pushing a tandem up that climb is a real challenge. To make things harder, we had no Granny gears, and so the middle chain ring was as low as we could go. We really had to push, and it seemed never ending. Annaliisa made this easier for me by breaking it down into stages so I was only thinking short term. Well we got up it (thankfully) and I didn't die! We also had the tv3 newscrew filming us while we were going up. They had decided to do a story on us and yesterday was a perfect race to see us sweat and grunt (both of which I did!)

Well we are racing the Armstrong next week and I am quite excied, and a little bit nervous at being in such a big bunch!

Will keep you posted.
See you!
